This is an excellent game. This mud has its own interface i.e a wizard that allows you to do all yer macros, highlights, options, speedwalking etc.
The game itself is a basic mud in the sense of leveling: Choose your race (limited) & Class and go slay monsters.
The rp is excellent especially when Immortals and Heroes are involved.
I'd def reccommend this game, you'll get a good laugh on chats, make some stella friends and enjoy some excellent rping too.
I really have to update this to counter what someone has said. Someone has said to some extent, that staff go out of their way to disrupt and punish players. This has happened but this is not frequent. This person has highlighted negative actions of staff (Negative for the player affected who will have been affected for breaking a rule, repeatedly).
The other hand point, the goodside I am trying to make is the rewards you get for making an effort, i.e rping dilligently to an immortal or doing something really simple such as making a post on the forums.
I have recieved colours (buffs that make you stronger, faster etc at a much better rate than a mortal player), enchants on my weapons and ic recognition.

Legends of Cosrin is the second-best RPG I've ever played. Roleplay is *strictly* enforced (to a fault, at times). If there were more people playing it again, it would be much better than it is right now.
The problem is the staff members have scared off all of the people who used to play, as they are "obsessed with punishing players, find it humorous to disrupt your gameplay, and generaly make it an annoying place to be." If you manage to dodge the wrath of any staff members, Cosrin can be a really nice place to spend your free time.
The interface is a really nice piece of work, and the only thing I could think to make it better would be to add scripting capabilities to make traveling easier. (Which it can... sorta do.)
Cosrin is a tough game. This game is the red-headed step-child that lives in the closet under the stairs.
Also, for those of you who were crabbing about the payment, you don't *have* to pay. You can get by just fine without registering. Also, it's less than 5 bucks a month. My favorite mud charges almost 50 bucks a month for a premium membership.

Legends of Cosrin was my first experience with MUDs, and remains 9 years later my first love and still favorite. You will not find anywhere else the loyalty and long-lived players that continue to play this game. I've tried many rpg's in my time, and Legends of Cosrin is my all time favorite.
Their client, the "wizard", is very easy to understand, yet advanced enough to please even the most demanding player.
The community is one of the best, if not the best I've ever come across. Most are quite helpful to newbies and friendly. There is never a lack of someone to 'hunt' or 'roleplay' with.
Speaking of roleplay, it is very encouraged in Legends of Cosrin. Good roleplay is even rewarded.
The gameplay itself can be completely engrossing and addictive. There are players that have been around for years and years (including myself). There are hundreds of quests to be solved, areas to explore and beasts to kill, mixtures to make...some of them still not discovered.
The game is now updated frequently with more areas and items.
Staff are generally very helpful. Many of the staff enjoy roleplaying with the players as well as working on the game.
Overall, if you're looking for a text based game with a great community, good gameplay and that's highly addictive, give Cosrin a try.

I've been playing on and off for around about 5-6 years now, so I'd be a fool to say anything other than this is definately one of the better games I've seen online, if not the best. Always full of things to do, whether hunting for levels is your thing, or perhaps trying your hand at one of the hundreds of challenging quests- and as for developing your character, the possibilities are endless; whether you're wanting to become a master at spellcraft or a cunning and skillful assassin. There are always people around who will give a hand if you get stuck, and the game's staff are always very helpful, so just ask if you need anything.
So, if you're after something challenging and new, yet fun and easy going, give Cosrin a try!

Well.
After running into it on this site and trying it for a while i can safely say, it sucks, and a total waste of money. The one good thing about it is its interface.
Players: Very few of them. Much less than helpfull to newbies. Completely close minded.
Staff: More helpfull than the players, but rude, and hard to get a hold on when serious problems arise.
Interface: Not the greatest i seen, but deffinitly good.
Role play: Shalow, rare, unsupported and even discouraged.
Game: Ubeliveably boring leveling system. More levels than actualy make difference. Lack of PK.
Overall: I am not filling the rating slots and leaving the rating "0" for one reason. The players who rated it ten only did so to pump up the rating ignoring reallity.

This was the first RPG and even the first online game I ever played. The reason I even came across Cosrin was because I was searching for something online that had the "fighting" type atmosphere along with "puzzels/quests" to complete. Once into the game I was quite hesistant about sticking around because of the roleplay factor...was not something I was looking nor really comfortable with, but I hung in there and now am totally addicted. Having no experience with online games...I found my way around the gameface with ease and any other questions were quickly anwered by the players or figured out easily enough on my own. It is a game where you can be left alone and do your own thing, have your character be the center of attention, or somewhere in between. The community of players is something I really find appealing and entertaining. While there are those that whine consistantly, you will find that anywhere else you go as well. You simply cannot please all the people, all of the time.
Great way to use your mind, flourish your creative side, meet some friends and pass some time...simply a great game all around. So it costs 5 bucks a month to play....I spend more then that on cigarettes a month. Legends of Cosrin is well worth it....and won't cause cancer!

Cosrin has some large problems. The major one? The players. Most are whiny little fools, who cant roleplay. Their pittiful excuse for roleplay, involves a lack of versatility, and the inability to adapt to change. If something doesnt go their way IN game, they take it as a personal insult OUT of game.
The staff are just as bad. Some, are wonderfull, and I would like to extend my praise to them now, for they do a wonderfull job bailing water, on a rapidly sinking ship. Some of the staff are obsessed punishing, and some find it humerous to disrupt your gameplay, break the rules laid out by the developers, and generaly make it an annoying place to be.
But as I said, some are wonderful.
I played the Legends of Cosrin for four days, and was sick to the back teeth by the end of the second. I do not, in any way, shape or form, suggest this game to new players, or people looking for an interactive comunity to have fun in.

This game is awesome. Been playing for almost 4 years now and tried most every class. I have left this game a few times in the hopes of finding something better under the advice of friends but find that I keep coming back again and again. This is a must see if you are looking for a game that has no end, constant RP and battles, Immy interaction and the ability to get hooked and make friends than this is the one for you.

Nothing can beat this game.... I have tried MANY games but this one rules !
The stories the players can develop, the interaction between other players AND Staff .... incredible.
The game is constantly being developed and new areas created making this a massivly enjoyable game.
When I first started playing I was overwhelmed .... but ... I soon recieved a lot of help from a lot of people.

I first started in Cosrin just about a year and a half ago, my first ever RPG. In the time since then, I have forged a great many friendships both in character and out. The game itself is never boring... actually, I hesitate to call it a game, It is an entity within itself. A whole new world. I can hunt when I want, and wrack my brains trying to solve quests or just sit around and interact with others. Many times I have found myself at my computer laughing the night away at the antics of some of the characters in Cosrin when I notice the sun has come up and I have forgotten to sleep... Again! Its a great place to be, the people are fantastic, the staff is on the ball and extremely helpful. Come play if you dare.... I bet you'll get as addicted as the rest of us!!

The 3 current games OGC have, Terris, Wolfenburg and Cosrin, from a new starter's point of view are very easy to pick up and play, especially with the way the wizard is. I've played a couple of other games in a similar genre and they seemed sooo tedious. It's addictive...but great! Loads of people, and plenty of people to help you out in your RP or plenty to join in to make it a bit more exciting.

Well... I been playing this game for a good 4 years now... and I have to say, It's a great game. Highly addictive as it is, I am now a cosrin addict. It has become like a second home to me (actually first, I spend more time on it than at home). Everyone is really close in this game, you can feel the love! (not to mention hate <winks>) Overall, a really good game, one worth the cash you have to pay! If you don't believe me, see for yourself.

I've played cosrin from day one. What can I say about it?
Firstly, every game has its faults. Always will. I'll get the bad out of the way first.
From day one it's been an incredible game, however, the problem is, the dream Cosrin first was has slowly deteriorated into what it is now. It's still a "fun" game, for some, but it is no longer about mystics and magic, doing your own thing, and being awed by the power of others, about becoming a hero upon all of your strife, and working to become the best. It's no longer about seeing that first player cast that first spell that teleports them to a new area, and such. Mostly because of the lack of code updates. It's about, catering to the whiners, kiddy camp, and taking the game in a direction the staff wants it to go. Any good game maker (Imperian for example) knows that it is about the players, not your personal belief in what is too easy and what is too hard. There are no code updates, ever, and the creator steps in the game about once every two years. Most of the people, are annoying and self righteous, and the rest in my PERSONAL OPINION have lost any interest in trying to make Cosrin what it was.
Okay, now that I'm done ragging on the game, it's a game with Immortals, events, a ton of in-game content, and etc. The price to play is surprisingly cheap, for an OGC game and the game has very good customer service.

It's great ! That's all, really.
Sure, it's too bad about them 3 quid a month, but if you "roleplay" well enough, there's even going to be weirdos who'll pay FOR you.
And it overall, out of most muds I played seems to give a kind of personal feeling that most others don't. Another pro. is the frequent updating.
